What is a Health Needs Assessment (HNA)?
A Health Needs Assessment (HNA) is a systematic process to evaluate the health issues facing a specific group of workers. As an Occupational Health (OH) professional, you are tasked with analysing an organisation's work practices against current regulations and best practices. The goal is to identify, measure, and prioritise health risks that employees may be exposed to. Unlike individual health checks, an HNA focuses on collective groups, such as office workers at risk of musculoskeletal issues from poor ergonomics, or factory workers exposed to chemical fumes that could lead to respiratory problems. It's a proactive strategy to safeguard workforce health at a systemic level.
